Medix Blood Clinic · phlebotomy

Blood taken locally, so you don't have to travel for it.

If a doctor, consultant or private clinic has asked you for a blood test, we can take the sample here on Stevenage High Street. A booked appointment, a private room, and a trained phlebotomist, instead of a trip to the hospital and a morning off work.

What this service is

We take the sample. That's our part.

We're being deliberately plain about where our role starts and stops, because it matters more than a marketing line.

We take the sample

A trained phlebotomist takes your blood in our private consultation room. Booked appointments, five minutes from the middle of Stevenage, with parking on the street outside.

We send it to the lab

Your sample goes to [ laboratory partner to confirm ] for processing, packaged and dispatched the same day wherever possible.

Your results go to you

The laboratory issues your results as a PDF. They also go back to the doctor or clinic who requested the test.

What we don't do

We don't decide which test you need, and we don't interpret your results. Both of those sit with the doctor or clinic who requested the test. They hold your full clinical picture and they asked for it for a reason. If you have questions about what your results mean, go back to them.

How it works

From request form to results

1

Get the request from your doctor

Your GP, consultant or private clinic gives you a request form or a test kit that says exactly what's being tested. We can't take a sample without it.

2

Book your appointment

Online in about a minute, or ring 01438 352211. Tell us if your doctor has asked you to fast and we'll book you an early slot.

3

Come in | it takes about ten minutes

In our private consultation room, not at the counter. Bring your request form and photo ID.

4

We dispatch your sample

Labelled, packaged and sent to the laboratory. [ Turnaround time to confirm with the lab. ]

5

Results go to you and to your doctor

The laboratory issues the report. Anything you want explained goes back to whoever requested the test.

Cost

What the blood draw costs

You pay us for taking and dispatching the sample. Whatever your doctor or clinic charges for the test itself is separate and paid to them.

Before you come

Four things to bring

Your request form

Or the test kit your doctor gave you. It tells us which tubes to fill. Without it we can't take the sample.

Photo ID

So we can be certain the sample is labelled with the right person's details.

Your fasting instructions

If your doctor asked you to fast, follow their instructions, not ours. We'll book you early to make it easier.

A list of your medicines

Some medicines affect results. Your requesting doctor needs to know what you're taking.

Book a blood draw
